Leadership Team

Revd Mike Thomas

I’m Mike. I’ve been a pastor of churches in Watford, Bromley, Croydon and Luton before coming to Blenheim in summer 2013. I’m married to Lotti, who is much more interesting than I am, not least because she comes from Switzerland. Three of our children have flown the nest, the fourth, Nicola, is still with us. We have a Rhodesian Ridgeback, who allows us to share her home and takes us for frequent long walks in the lovely countryside around Luton (we walk, she runs).

Lotti and I enjoy travel, gardening (almost self-sufficient in fruit), fresh air and reading. Recent adventures have included some lecturing in ministers’ training colleges in Nigeria and dismantling an 18th century oak framed barn in Normandy.

I think about and study my Christian faith, trying to understand it better, in the hope of becoming a better Christian, and helping others do the same. I also like to explore how it can be applied to the many challenges facing the world today.

Luton has been our home for more than 12 years now, and getting to know many people from all around the world - China, Africa, Pakistan, India, Philippines, Romania, South America and so many other places – has been an experience not to be missed.

 Treasurer / Worship Leader

I’m Martin and I first came to Blenheim as a small boy when I had more hair and my eyes worked without the aid of the equipment that now perches across the bridge of my nose.

The members appointed me to the office of treasurer a number of years ago and despite my best efforts to get out of it, I’m still doing it.  I get my own back though by making them listen to my singing and guitar playing each week.  Hee hee!

I have a lovely wife, Helen, who also puts up with a lot from me and I love her for it.  Our children, one daughter and one son, have long since married and flown the coop to set up their own homes.  We get to see them as often as possible.

I like reading, gardening, walking and going on holiday.  I have a wonderful, peaceful, favourite place for holidaying but I’m not going to tell you where it is, because if I did you would all want to go there and I can’t have that, can I!!

DeaconElaine Sharp

Elaine Sharpe

Hi, I'm Elaine. I've been a member here at Blenheim 45 years. During that time I have served the church in a variety of ways, including teaching in children's departments, leading festival services and church secretary for 5 years. I have also served on the diaconate for several lengthy spells before returning this year after some time out.

I've been married for 40 years to Philip, also a member of long standing but he is a background person! We have two children who have given us four grandchildren. Both families live locally so we're very hands on grandparents.

We are both retired and enjoy the more leisurely pace of life, having time for leisure pursuits of walking, reading and crossword puzzles, as well as time for family and friends.

This year has been Blenheim's 75th anniversary and I've chaired the committee organising the celebrations. It's been a demanding year but very enjoyable. I look forward now to how God wants to use us in the next 75 years.
